I just LOVE that in the June issue of Entrepreneur Magazine, they’re echoing what I’ve been saying all along “It IS all about You … it’s about knowing what you stand for.”
So often, people get really frustrated because they just can’t seem to find that unique niche that only they can own. They’re struggling to figure out exactly what it is about what they do that’s different or better than their competitors. They want that “packaging” that will set them apart, and when they can’t find it, they worry their business just won’t stand out.
My stance has always been, it’s less about that unique packaging, and it’s more about finding that place you can stand with total confidence. It’s about knowing what you stand for, and being able to totally OWN that, with confidence and without apology. It’s about knowing that you stand for SOMETHING and that not everyone will agree, but YOU believe in it 150%.
That kind of “taking a stand” and confidence is the cornerstone of success. It’s contagious. It’s magnetic. And it’s what I’ve always focused on doing in my businesses, and what I’ve tried to help my clients do in theirs.
But do you know what I find the biggest hurdle to be for many of my clients?
They’re tentative … they’re afraid to TOTALLY step into something and own it. I think it comes from the human tendency to want to be liked by everyone. And what if I take a stand that someone doesn’t agree with? Well I say, BRAVO! That’s proof you’re taking a stand!
Remember, when you try to please everyone, you please no one.
Instead, get in touch with WHO YOU ARE. Determine what you can stand for. Step into it 150%. Own it. And watch what happens to your business!
