Is Social Media Mandatory for Coaches and Consultants?

It’s not uncommon for coaches and consultants to ask me if they have to use social media to market themselves. Many aren’t active on social media, or if they are, they share that they really don’t like it. Yet, they feel it’s something they have to do. They believe that like it or not, they must be there.

So, do you have to be on social media if you’re an independent coach or consultant? Are you missing the boat if you’re not. Listen in to this week’s episode to find out.

Personally I’m not a big fan of social media. You can learn more about how I use social media to extend the reach of my content marketing, in my course How to Use Content Marketing to Become Known as an Expert and Get Clients.

  1. It’s good to hear this and it confirms what I believe, too. Even the gurus of consulting, who have millions of “friends”, often have single-digit feedback to their posts. Yes, people are seeing what Mr/Ms Guru posted, but no one’s engaging.

As I get back to marketing my business after a long hiatus, I’m ceasing my efforts to connect on FB and will use it as you do: another place to share my content.

    Thanks for the great info.

  2. You’re welcome Beth. Do what feels good to you. And, as long as you are connecting in some way with your ideal clients, you’ll do fine.
