Connecting the dots: My breaking point

As I was searching to connect the dots between my marketing consulting business and my new focus on teaching others to Live Inspired, I pulled out the book, Breaking The Spell, that I wrote back in 2012. I realized writing that book was a pivotal step in the transformation of my business, EVEN THOUGH I continued with my marketing business for 5 more years.

Before I wrote that book, I worked in marketing for 27 years.

And, I’d had my own business for 14. I was committed to everything I taught as a marketing coach and consultant. But just prior to writing that book I hit a breaking point and things started to shift.

I started to shift.

Why? My old approach was successful. I had a six-figure business. I was able to work from home and be there for my kids when they were growing up. Some might say I had it made. But something happened.

Something that almost caused me to walk away from my business entirely.

It was difficult but I now see it was necessary. I see now that it’s also what led me to Living and Working Inspired. If you want to read all the gory details (kidding, it’s not that gory!) it’s all in my book, Breaking The Spell. In the book, I also share what I uncovered when I began looking into what led me, and so many others, down that destructive path.

Change, Awakening, Following Inspiration.

In the final chapter of the book I write about change, awakening, and following inspiration. I did all three back in 2012, but I realize I still needed a lot of practice. It took me five years of practice to get where I am now.

I often talk about inspiration showing up as a great big light bulb moment, and other times as a quiet whisper. Sometimes it comes quickly, and others it shows up slowly, one tiny little inspired idea at a time.

If you haven’t yet read the book, I encourage you to check it out. Heck, I even got inspired re-reading the final chapter. And I wrote it, for crying out loud!

I guess we all need reminders to help us stay on the inspired path.

That’s one of the reasons I wanted to create this community, so we can support each other in Living and Working Inspired. So we can help each other stay on the inspired path, so we can realize the life and business we truly want and deserve.

In closing I wanted to share this particularly relevant Breaking The Spell review:

“Debbie’s book provides an invitation to that oh-so-powerful moment of insight when everything changes. When you stop, look your life full in the face and ask: Really? Is this working? Am I going to keep on doing what I have been doing, and hope that somehow things are going to be different? Or, am I going to shift one small, profound thought, which will shift everything?”

Whether you choose to read the book or not, here’s to finding true happiness by Living Inspired.
