I had an appointment in La Jolla this morning. If you don’t know San Diego, La Jolla is a beautiful beach community…the jewel of San Diego. It’s only about 20 minutes from my house, but as you can expect, I don’t get there often enough.
After my appointment, I was inspired to head down to the beach to just be and write in my journal. I always carry it with me these days because I never know when the inspiration to write will hit.
As I sat there writing, overlooking the Children’s Pool, writing in my journal, enjoying a grande cup of my favorite Starbucks Apple Chai tea, feeling the warmth of the sun on my shoulders, gazing out at the beautiful blue ocean, listening to the waves crash on the shore beneath me, watching all the tourists, it dawned on me…I LIVE HERE!
I can enjoy this any time I want. It’s a short drive from my home. It’s free. It’s one of the most beautiful, inspiring places in the world.
So why don’t I?
Like most people I imagine, I get too caught up in the DOING of my life.
I made a mental note today (as well as wrote it in my journal and am committing publicly here on my blog!) that I WILL start doing this more often. I can only imagine the shifts I will experience when I expose myself to this beauty and inspiration on a more regular basis.
How do you get caught up in the DOING…and what simple practice can you begin to JUST BE more often?
