The Importance of Commitment

I’m currently reading a wonderful little book, recommended by MY mentors and mastermind leaders, titled “The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity” by Edwene Gaines. Last night I was reading the chapter on “The Importance of Commitment” and it rung so true that I felt compelled to share it. Following are a few excerpts from the book. I hope you find them enlightening and they cause you to evaluate your current level of commitment to your business, and perhaps in other areas of your life, and the connection that commitment, or lack of commitment, has to the results you are seeing in your life.

“What I know with clarity and certainty is that when you make a 100 percent commitment to do or to be something, and you take every step with integrity, the universe will open up a way where before there was no way; the universe will rush in to support you. Now, when I use the word ‘commitment’ I am not talking about a vague, hazy, wishy-washy comment like ‘I’ll do it if it seems like it will work out.’ I am talking about a passionate 100 percent commitment – where we say: ‘I’m going to do it, by God, come hell or high water!’ When we have that level of commitment, we are completely unstoppable. Most people have no idea how much power they have. Well, if you want to exercise that power, you can do so through commitment.”

“The only sure-fire way to know whether you’ve made a commitment is when there’s no turning back and the only way out is through, all the way to the other side, because if there’s a side way out of it, that’s not a commitment. That is so important, I’m going to say it again: ‘If there’s a way out, it’s not a commitment.'”

“Wonderful, magical things can happen if you are willing to commit to putting yourself out there, stepping outside your comfort zones, playing at the game of risk. It feels like risk. It feels like playing without a net. But when you make a commitment, you’re never playing without a net – because God is your net. Taking risks and acting on your commitment reduces you to simply trusting God.”
