Since 2005 I have been working privately, and in small groups, with independent coaches and consultants from around the world. Most of the people who come to me for help with their business are struggling to get clients. While some are just starting out, many have been in business for awhile, and while they may have all the marketing bells and whistles in place, what they don’t have is clients.

Because I’ve had a behind-the-scenes view into so many coaching and consulting businesses, I’ve seen first-hand what so many new and struggling coaches and consultants are spending their time on. It’s usually through no fault of their own—they’re simply doing what they think they’re supposed to do to build a business. Unfortunately for many, they’re not spending their time and energy on the right activities and that’s the reason they’re struggling to get clients.
